Diamond Cove is private and not accessible from the mainland by car. The island has a very small year-round population and has a limited network of roads, offering a kid-friendly, car-free community. The primary modes of transportation are bicycles and electric golf carts.
Diamond Cove has a ferry stop at our private dock that is served with 11 ferries per day to and from Portland during the summer, and a more limited schedule the rest of the year.
Approximate travel time from Portland by ferry: 30-45 minutes one-way (trip times vary based upon route and cargo volume). The Casco Baylines ferry terminal in Portland is 10 mins by car/taxi from the Portland Transportation Center where buses and trains from Boston arrive. Note: Diamond Cove is a private community and although visitors are welcome to walk along Diamond Avenue to use the restaurant (within 50 yards of the ferry stop at Diamond Cove) and the General Store (located next to the restaurant), they are not allowed to walk through the private property, parade ground, parks, beaches, or private roads, or use any of the amenities within this community without an escort.
